This is the birthplace of the rare 'Beniaka' variety, which has been cultivated for over 120 years.

In 1898, in Kizaki Village, Saitama Prefecture (present-day Kita-Urawa),

Its popularity grew after it was accidentally discovered by housewife Ichi Yamada.

From the Meiji to the Taisho era, it gained popularity for its unique sweetness.

Because it was well-received by both producers and consumers, 'Beniaka' was hailed as the queen of sweet potatoes.
