Kenkichi Sakai Memorial Park (Golden Cherry Blossom Monument)

The creator of the king of sweet potatoes, 'Koganesengan',

This memorial park was created to express gratitude and respect for Dr. Kenkichi Sakai (1925-2023).

Kogane Sengan sweet potatoes are used in a variety of applications, including as a raw material for fruits and vegetables, shochu, sweet potato snacks, and starch.

In Kagoshima, which has the largest cultivated area in Japan, it has become an important crop that supports farmers.

It delivers deliciousness and enjoyment to us in various ways. It's one of those amazing potato varieties!

Dr. Sakai will appear on "Sweet Potato Evangelist Imorin Goes on an Adventure!"

"A Journey to the Golden-flowered Gooseberry - Kanoya City, Kagoshima Prefecture"
